Visitors from the lower 48

This past week my parents came up for a visit and were able to spend some quality time seeing the sites and playing with their grand kids. It was fun to have them here for Conference, Easter egg hunts, and some adventures.

Jaxson and Houston enjoying their Easter baskets from Nana and Grandpa Cook.

Houston and Papa checking out the view at the Eagle River Nature Center

We took the boys to an indoor soccer field in Wasilla. They had a blast running around and playing with all of the toys.

This is my attempt to get a picture of the Moose at Potter's Marsh. As you can see, or not see, I need to learn how to zoom in while going down the highway.

Scenic Drive

We have been having a great time exploring new areas around Alaska and taking scenic drives. This was our latest adventure along the Old Seward Highway...It was hard to keep our eyes on the road!

The Running of the Reindeer & Fur Rondy

Last weekend we went to downtown Anchorage to check out the Fur Rendezvous. There are a lot of different events taking place, as well as a winter carnival. One of Houston's favorites was the dog sled racing. We just happened to be coming by at the right time and were able to watch it from the warmth of our car. Later on we went to see the running of the reindeer. It's like running of the bulls, meets a costume contest. They get a handful of reindeer and parade them through the crowd, before they send them careening at the rear ends of these wonderfully dressed individuals. It was quite the scene and pretty funny to witness.

My favorite part about this picture is the random half naked guy and the dude in a hula skirt.

Here are the reindeer getting ready for their race...too bad nobody was gored this year. The announcer really wanted someone to fall so that they could get trampled- There's always next year!

Awesome Butterfly costumes (if I were a reindeer I would have gone for the easy target)

Our little Ninja. It wasn't that cold but Houston was really excited to wear his face mask.

Fun @ Daddy's Work

The boys and I spent the day in Wasilla yesterday (one of the office locations where Josh is working) We had fun exploring the area, eating lunch with Josh and getting eye exams. I didn't get any pictures of Jaxson in the chair, but Josh said he did pretty good for being hungry and tired. Houston was just excited to sit in the cool chair and have daddy do tests on his eyes.

Sledding

We took advantage of the beautiful weather and Josh's Day off to go sledding as a family. We had a blast playing in the snow and flying down the hills.

Jaxson didn't know what to think of his snow suit and had this funny little look on his face most of the time.

New Friends

We have been very blessed to make some great new friends up here in Alaska. Play dates, dinners and of course Girls Night Out have made for a nice transition to life in our new area. Thanks guys for making us feel loved!
