Sushi Anyone?

One of the benefits of my husband working in the school's equipment office is that the equipment reps like to take us out to eat when they are in town. For the most part they have stuck with fine dinning and anywhere you can get red meat. This last time we suggested a Sushi place, because Josh and I had never tried it and we were curious. We went to a place called Taiko, it was a Japanese Grill and Sushi Bar where they cook the food in front of you. They picked out a sample platter that had a bunch of different types of sushi for us to try and then we ordered our main dishes. I love trying new things, but I was still a little nervous about the whole texture thing. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised...I LOVED it!! I have never been a huge fish fan either, so that is really saying something. So if you are in the market for trying something new, I highly recommend it! (Of course make sure you get it from somewhere that knows what they are doing)

Just the Boys

Houston and I got to go out for a little Father and Son time at the Circus on Saturday. We felt bad leaving Brooke behind, but she got to do some much anticipated shopping while we were away...so it was a win-win situation. Houston was excited to go and loved the whole show. Well, to be honest he didn't care much for the people that could bend into different positions, but other than that he was on the edge of his seat during the show.

The day as it is just beginning with Brooke dropping us off outside of Reliant Stadium where the Circus was held.

These are some of the many pictures of Houston throughout the show. I could have taken a hundred pictures but they can be summed up in these quality still shots:

"I didn't know one of those existed! What do you call that Dad?"

"Dad won't stop taking pictures, so I might as well just give him what he wants with a big cheesy smile....maybe then he'll leave me alone!"

"Now if I were to do that I think I would get in a lot of trouble...I wonder though...If I attach some thick string to some chairs and then climb up on the table...It might just work!!!"

"HE DID NOT JUST DO THAT!!!"

Houston got a new car at the Circus and when Brooke asked what he saw at the Circus he said, "Got a new white car at Circus" The new car was definitely the highlight of the Circus but he did enjoy the other shows.

It was definitely a fun day at the Circus with my little man. Hopefully there will be many more days just like it in the future. Thanks for letting us have some Boys time sweetheart.

Discovery Green Park

Last week we went the new park downtown for playgroup and it was amazing! They had a little playground, places to eat and my favorite....a cool fountain area that the "kids" could play in. Houston and I rode the Metro rail and then walked over, so I didn't have a chance to get lost downtown. We all had a great time and stayed there for most of the morning.

Monday Josh had the morning off and so we decided to take him to the new park before school. Houston was so excited to be with Dad and had a great time riding the Metro and showing off the park.

Warning for all of you that live here in Houston, apparently the Water fountains are closed on Monday's....sad, but we still had a blast!

Happy Late 4th of July!

We started our morning off at the Ward 4th of July Fun Run & Breakfast, minus the Fun Run...Thanks to a pinched nerve in my back. But it was still fun to have breakfast with all of our friends and see the kids in their red, white & blue.

Look at our cute little family....with a few additions of course!

After a good nap, we headed over to our friends to swim and BBQ...always a 4th of July favorite! It was great hanging out with everyone and letting all of the kids play and play and play.

The Grill Masters!

Playing a little Mario Kart Wii

Getting ready to watch the big show....can you say SUPER CHEESY!!

At 8:30 we realized we needed to go and find a good spot to watch the fireworks. It is our last summer here in Texas, so we needed to make the most of it. Besides the fact that Houston was so excited about going to watch them and kept saying- "Fireworks! Fireworks! Go watch Fireworks!" We found a great spot in the park and didn't have to wait too long before the fireworks started. Houston was a little nervous about the loud noises at first, but then we taught him how to "Ooooh and Ahhhhhh" at the fireworks instead and he ended up loving them. The fireworks were great, but I think Josh and I had a better time watching Houston enjoy them...so cute!!

Moody Garden's

Last weekend we went to Moody Garden's in Galveston for a day of Free Family Fun! Houston enjoyed touching the star fish and putting his hands in the water at the sea creature exhibits. They had a huge aquarium and Houston got really excited about all of the fish....especially the one like Nemo!(I let him watch a bit of Finding Nemo the day before to help him get ready)
The pictures by all of the fish tanks and tunnels didn't turn out too well, because it was dark and the flash kept reflecting off of the glass....but we tried!

After we ate Lunch/Dinner we decided to go over to the splash pad and pool they had for the kids. It was cool because they had sand all along the sides of the pool and it was shallow enough for Houston to explore on his own.

It was a long fun day and Houston only made it about 5 minutes into our car ride home before he was dead asleep!
